Carlos Abreu is an Assistant Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo (IPVC), Portugal. Recently, in 2020, he has joined the Expert Panel of the European Commission, collaborating with the Executive Agency for Small & Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME). In 2015 he has received the 2015 Clinical Engineering Manuscript Award assigned by the Clinical Engineering Division of the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE). He is graduated in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Aveiro in 2005. Having researched Instrumentation, Signal, and Medical Image he earned an MSc Degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2008 from the same university. In 2014, he received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minho, Portugal. His research interests focus on Medical Cyber-Physical Systems, Diabetes Technology, and Gerontechnology.
